The Lake Wylie Lions Club is returning Father Christmas to Camp Thunderbird for a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. The event will feature, in addition to the breakfast, pony rides, a jumping station, a small gift and a photo op for children with Father Christmas.

A visit to Father Christmas (aka Frank Van Leer) is a cultural and historical learning opportunity for children since Father Christmas dates back at least to the 17th Century. That figure was later merged in popular culture with Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas.

Thank you! And, as always, it was a great event! Our grandson is afraid of Santa, but eagerly goes to sit in Father Christmas’ lap. He MUST be the real Father Christmas.
