
On Saturday, January 17, Lion Ben Rawls was presented with the Unsung Hero Award. This prestigious award is presented to a local individual whose volunteer efforts have made a difference in both our lives and that of our community. Ben Rawls is such a man!
Ben has served four years on the River Hills Community Association Board of Directors and two of those years as President. Ben founded and is the Editor of “The Neighbors,” the monthly River Hills Community Association newsletter. On several occasions he has been in charge of the Nominating Committee for the River Hills Community Association elections.
Ben is very active in the River Hills Community Church. He has just completed two years as Chair of the Board of Elders and is now Chair Emeritus. He has served on the Church Council, Financial Management Committee and also teaches Sunday school.
Ben has been an active member of the River Hills Lions Club serving on the Board of Directors as Third Vice President, has been Publicity Chairman and has worked on both the Lions Telephone Directory and Golf Tournament.
Ben and his wife Sharon have lived in River Hills for the past 20 years and when Ben is not working on his committees, he and Sharon are often seen taking walks together throughout the neighborhood or playing tennis. Congratulations Ben, you are an inspiration to us all.
