Congratulations to Gerry Orlick who on December 9 was awarded the highest honor in Lionism, the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. This award, which was created in 1973 by Lions Club International, is given to an individual to acknowledge their dedication to humanitarian service and their commitment to our motto “We Serve”. Lion Gerry has served in many leadership capacities both on the State and local levels. On the State level he served as Region and Zone Chairman, co-chaired the SC State and Mid-Winter Conventions. On the local level he was Club President, Vice President, served several terms on the Board of Directors, chaired Peace Poster contests, co-chaired writing and assembling the River Hills Lions By-Laws and Constitution, worked on numerous projects such as the Lions Directory and Christmas Trees sales. Within the Community Gerry has served on the Nominating Committee for the Community Association, served on the Condo Association Board of Directors and chaired several sub-committees for the Condo Association. Gerry is active in his church by serving as a lecture at All Saint Catholic Church and is a member of their Men’s Club.

Gerry and his wife, Stephanie, moved to River Hills in 1989. When Gerry is not spending time with his grandson, Coleman, Gerry, affectionately known as “Mr. Bonsai,” is working with his extensive collection of bonsai trees.

Congratulations, Gerry, and thank you for your many hours of unselfish dedication to the River Hills Lions Club and the River Hills Community at large.
